Margo Stewart,

I’m happy that you’re enjoying the posts!

The Dostoevsky reference wasn’t to anything specific. It’s just that I feel, generally, his characters are much darker and dour than Tolstoy described Rostov in today’s chapter. As I read that sentence I just thought to myself, “That’s something Dostoevsky would rarely write about a character.” Maybe Myshkin but not too many others.

The funny thing is that this is the second Dostoevsky joke I wrote in as many days and both needed further explanations. Ha! No more Dostoevsky jokes for me.

Anyway, thanks for reading. It’s nice to have you reading along with me this year.

Best,

Brian
