It’s very interesting you should bring this up because it was one of a few different approaches I was going to take with this chapter. I was going to do another role-playing meditation. That is, does Count Bezukhov have a social duty to follow tradition or should he follow his own heart in legitimizing Pierre? After all, perhaps Vasili and Catiche had a reasonable reliance on inheriting his wealth. Interesting question.
